Our History
"Dahlonega's First Family Farm Winery"
|
|
Three Sisters Vineyards & Winery is dedicated to presenting a small family oriented farm that is a destination for tourists and wine enthusiasts visiting Northeast Georgia. After purchasing the Lupmkin County property in the late summer of 1995, Sharon and Doug Paul began nearly a year of site planning for the new vineyard. The farm's name is inspried by the beautiful view of Lumpkin County's Three Sisters Mountain to the west. Three Sisters Vineyards, Inc. was incorporated the following summer on July 19, 1996 to cultivate the growth and production of winegrapes. Sharon Paul's brother Ken VanDusen joined the family business in October 1996 as the Vineyard Operations Manager. The Winery began operations in August of 2000. The Tasting Room opened September of 2001. Eighteen acres of grapes thrive on our mountainside property.
Situated on 184 acres between the historic mountain villages of Dahlonega and Cleveland/Helen, Lumpkin County's first vineyard, Three Sisters holds the historic distinction of being "Dahlonega's First Family Farm Winery" and Dahlonega-Lumpkin County's Founding Winegrowers.

Three Sisters Winemaking Team
Three Sisters Vineyards’ mission is to produce fine wines in an honest and unpretentious manner. Our wines reflect the unique east coast “terrior” of Lumpkin County, Georgia - one of the very best places in the state to grow European and French-American winegrapes. All of our wines are made from 100% TSV estate grown grapes.
While Three Sisters wines celebrate “the sense of place” (as our French brethren call it) our wines reflect our family’s many hours of dedication, character and personality. We are proud autodidactics! Building upon the French concept of “terrior,” we believe wines are more than just soil, climate and farming techniques. We believe our "people" make the difference. Three Sisters Vineyards has developed certain wine styles and flavor profiles. We work hard to co-exist with each vintage Mother Nature sets. And every vintage is different. Lots of curve balls. That’s the fun and challenge of “terrior.”
It is our belief that the best wine is made by consensus. That’s why no one person holds the title of “winemaker.” We also believe fine wine is produced by the efforts of everyone from the vineyard workers that help cultivate the grapes to the family blending trials in the winery. Three Sisters even incorporates visitor’s tasting opinions into our decision making. Come visit us and sample the unique East Coast wines of Three Sisters Vineyards in North Georgia.
